Mary O’ Hagan
Mary O’Hagan is a Senior Producer of ‘The Last Word’ programme on Todayfm.
‘The Last Word’ presented by Matt Cooper is a daily two and half hour, drivetime current affairs programme covering all the latest national and international news, sport, lifestyle features, music, film, health, book reviews, and much more.
A music lover and avid festival/gig goer some of her favourite ‘Last Word’ guests include Nile Rodgers of Chic, Shaun Ryder of The Happy Mondays, Mike Scott, Jim Kerr, DJ Shadow and country music legend Kris Kristofferson.
Since joining Todayfm in 2003 she has produced programmes covering major events in Irish public life. Everything from
the end of the IRA armed campaign to the publication of the mahon tribunal report have been in the spotlight. Notable outside broadcasts include a live debate featuring all seven presidential candidates in the 2011 race for the Aras from the sugar club in Dublin and a fiery debate on the lisbon treaty in the Irish Times building where Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary locked horns with Declan Ganley of Libertas before an audience.
Mary cut her news teeth in BBC Northern Ireland as a researcher working on programmes including ‘Good Morning Ulster’, ‘Evening Extra’ and documentaries for Radio 5 live.
She started out working in TV as a researcher in the independent sector on programming for RTE, TG4, and TV3.
She is a Script Supervisor (continuity) having worked on TV drama series for the ABC (Australia Broadcasting Corporation) including ‘Head Start’ and ‘Love is a four letter word.’ Mary trained in this area on feature film productions including ‘Agnes Browne’ and on the TV drama series,’Ballykissangel’ for the BBC.
